ATHLETICS

QUODPOT

Quodpot is as American as Mothman's annual 4th of July Backyard BBQ, a game of colorful explosions and absolute mayhem both on and off the pitch. It's a winter sport, played from November to March, and it commands a frenzied fan following even at the high school level.

Peckenpaugh's Quodpot team, comprised of first string Varsity and Junior Varsity reserve players, is ranked number five in the nation — right below their rivals Malstrom Academy — and people from all over the country tune in to listen to their games. While pick up games are a fairly common distraction for Peckenpaugh students, there is no intramural Quodpot league. Instead, the school team is pitted against similarly sized schools from across the nation in eight games, culminating in an early spring tournament. Quodpot players, cheerleaders, the marching band, and those students who have written permission from a parent or guardian are free to attend all away games.

Since Quodpot is only vaguely described in canon, Peckenpaugh has taken the liberty of filling in the gaps. We've written up an explainer for Quodpot As She Is Spoke in the Peckenpaugh universe, for all your Quodpot Mechanics needs. You may also want to check out our World Setting page to see about professional Quodpot.

QUIDDITCH

Each of Peckenpaugh's four Houses has its own Quidditch team. They face off in an intramural league that spans the school year, running from September to November, breaking in winter, and then picking up again from February to May. Quodpot may be WizAmerica's favorite sport, but Quidditch is serious business at Peckenpaugh. Inter-house rivalries can get intense. The winningest House earns the Quidditch Cup and a healthy bonus to their House's overall points for the year, fuel for the competitive fire.

Peckenpaugh also boasts a school Quidditch team comprised of dedicated and talented players from all four houses. Tryouts take place later in the academic year, at which point a school team Captain is also selected. PPSM may not be the nation's top Quodpot school, but they're a force to be reckoned with when it comes to American Rules Quidditch.

The schedule for the school team is forthcoming, pending Mr. Youngblood deciding that the other Athletic Directors have waited long enough for him to respond to their inquiries. It's important to establish dominance, kids.

CHEER

Cheerleaders are the heart and soul of Peckenpaugh, hardworking kids doing more than high kicks. In addition to cheering at games and pep rallies, they celebrate every victory — not just the athletic ones — and work to boost morale for the entire school. Their high-flying magical routines are featured not just on the pitch, but in their own competitions. Peckenpaugh cheer competes (and often wins) at the national level each year.

There's one large school squad that performs at Quodpot matches and in competitions, but each House also boasts its own smaller squad devoted to building school spirit on the Quidditch pitch and during other inter-house competitions. Tryouts for House squads takes place early in the year, with the school squad forming a bit later, in time for the Quodpot season.

BAND

An essential part of any American High School experience is the Band. Students enrolled in Music class at Peckenpaugh are automatically enrolled in Band, as well — be it Marching Band, Concert Band, or both — and they are at least as important as cheerleaders when it comes to inspiring school spirit. Participating in Band means carving out a little extra time for practices and performances, but it’s the price they pay to get the spotlight and wear that uniform.

Students not enrolled in Music may also join the Marching and Concert bands. The more the merrier! Whether you're participating in just one or both, it counts as just one extracurricular spot. In addition to playing for Quidditch and Quodpot games, band members play for pep rallies, Performing Arts Club’s musical productions, and at their own recitals. If you are interested in signing up for one or both bands, please indicate the instrument(s) your character plays on their application. Characters may be talented at multiple instruments (within reason) or even weird magical instruments of your own invention. In order to keep the bands' instrument distributions diverse, we may cap certain instruments after a while.

JV QUODPOT FALCON: Edgar Waxweiler (Co-Captain)

[personal profile] quidditched 2019-07-17 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Edgar Waxweiler

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No.

Playstyle: Eddy is a Keeper first and foremost, and the skills translate.. sort of. While his willingness to sacrifice his body and lack of hesitation at throwing elbows is a boon, coordinated teamwork and the finer points of running the Quod tend to elude him. He shines when it comes to disruption and blocking, but almost always spends some time in the penalty box due to his objective first, rules second playstyle.

Name: Wyatt Webberley

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: N

Playstyle: Wyatt loves sports, but Quodpot is king. He has been following it on a national level since before he even stepped foot on his first broom. This, combined with his athletic prowess and natural ease on a broom, leads to a lot of confidence. Perhaps overconfidence. Okay, downright recklessness. Look, he's fine with getting blown up in the name of the game, so long as he gets to hear the crowd cheer.

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No. She's a vet.

Playstyle: A dare devil on a broom. She's fast and reckless. Learning to fly with her much larger brother, she had to develop ways to get around him. A natural scorer, her greatest strengths are her agility and willingness to do what other players won't. She's 115 pounds of adrenaline and sugar. She wants to scare you. She'll play chicken with her opponents, fly where others don't dare, and taunt everyone while doing so. Her confidence and cockiness are her greatest weakness too, however. She takes risks she doesn't need to, sometimes eschewing the simple play for a more complicated one that can backfire.

She likes to win, but even more, she hates to lose. Oh, and she'll commit a foul. Definitely.

Are you okay with character injuries?: Absolutely!

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope!

Playstyle: Tony is built to be a Kestrel. He has a ton of knowledge of the game and has been playing in this position officially and unofficially for years. He is unafraid of injury and will put himself in harm's way but is a clean, safe player. His best quality is his ability to read and anticipate plays, putting him exactly in the right place at the right time.

Name: Tybalt Zettler

Are you okay with character injuries?: Again big big yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Y this is his first varsity year, but he was on the JV team last year

Playstyle: Tybalt's been playing Quidditch longer than Quodpot, and he tries really hard to not let it show. SO he's a little more risk-taking in this sport, to prove he can do a little more than just flying around the arena looking for a tiny ball. The flying, of course, translates. He still goes for the quickest solution, forgoing any big tricks. However, he's a lot more prone to make momentary calls, and push his way through tiny holes in people, dead drop, and the like in order to help his team score. This translates to more risk, but he'll take it. It also takes him a minute to remember that there are ten more people on his team and three more people in his position. He's used to the seeker position, where he's aware of his teammates and assists them, but he doesn't have to be actively involved. The concept of sharing can be a little rusty, but a bludger to the head should teach him just fine.

Name: Skip Rider.

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Yes.

Playstyle: Extremely fast, unafraid of gravity and unaffected by vertigo whatever he does. Weak on team skills, this will be the first year he has ever played on a team for anything, and weak on passing and shooting, but a great catcher and interceptor. Tends to come out of nowhere to snipe the Quod from between enemy players and manage short passes to teammates who are able to shoot and/or pass to further away than he thinks he can manage. Very quick at thinking and adapting his plays.

Name: Willow Quackenbush

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes. Would she even be a Quackenbush otherwise?

Is your character new to the team this year?: Y.

Playstyle: On the pitch, Willow is good at reading other players, observing her own team and the opposition to be where she needs to be before she needs to be there. Willow isn't scared of much, but she's surprisingly cautious in her playstyle. That is, until she gets mad. Once someone pisses her off, all that goes out the window, and she becomes a one woman wrecking ball.

Name: Cedar Quackenbush

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes. Please. I'm begging you.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Yes. They tried out last year, and it did... not go well.

Playstyle: Cedar is jumpy and quick to react on the field. They check their blind spot six times a second and can dodge a hit before the other player's even thought about it. Which, cool, great, but that means a lot of screaming and jostling the quod, throwing it in unexpected directions and sometimes (never) getting lucky. What's great about this is that it makes them impossible to predict in actual play, and they're a great tool for disrupting other Sparrows.

Their biggest weakness is their shooting, which is a problem, since they're a scorer. It's not accuracy that trips them up, it's taking half a second to center themself before taking that shot.

[personal profile] artistree 2019-11-08 05:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Hawthorne Quackenbush

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Yes.

Playstyle: Hawthorne is an inexperienced flyer who shows a lot of promise. He's aggressive on the pitch, unafraid of getting into the thick of things and preferring a forward kestrel spot to playing strictly defensive. He's an excellent passer, and even more than that, has a real knack for knowing just when the quod is about to explode. Where he doesn't excel is making his own snap decisions. Unsurety and lack of confidence hold him back, and he operates best when there is a strong, clear play, and despite being used to mishaps in his everyday life, does not adapt well to sudden changes in the flow of the game without guidance.

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: N.

Playstyle: Adrian was not a natural on a broom. It was years of training that brought him up to how he flies now, and that dogged dedication to improving himself shows. He is a skilled flyer, a learned flyer. Not the fastest, but sturdy, hard to knock off course or really surprise. He recovers from mishaps and mess ups easily and is absolutely fearless in the face of an exploding quod or possible head-on collision. He's here to put himself between the opposite team and his own pot, and he will absolutely do that. Prone to injury as a result, but he does try to at least play clean and avoid fouling.

Oh yeah the most important part is he always does a dance when he gets a quod goal. He ended Peckenpaugh's first game of 2019 - 2020 by cranking that soulja boy, btw.

Name: Claudia Vega

Are you okay with character injuries?: Hell yes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope!

Playstyle: Claudia's biggest strengths are accuracy and a comfortable confidence on a broom. She never second-guesses her flying, and she's spent a lot of time practicing shots in her backyard. Good at teamwork, very focused on getting to the goal, but also gets really irritated when the play does not go how she expects. If the quod is ticking away and someone's getting between her and the goal she will do something impulsive, stupid, and probably violent to get her way.

THORNTRAIL SEEKER: Jupiter Quigley (Captain)

[personal profile] gasgiant 2019-06-21 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Jupiter Quigley

House: Thorntrail

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. While it's not her instinct to play dirty, Jupiter does play aggressively. A Thorntrailer not known for an even temperament, Jup has amassed her fair share of heat-of-the-moment fouls in her time. In general, she tries to hold her team to a high standard and does not encourage fouling.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No. Jupiter has been a first string player for three years, a reserve for one. She is thoroughly familiar with every position.

Playstyle: Jupiter is the sort of player whose talent comes from years of blood and sweat, rather than any natural gift. She is not the most agile flyer, the best catcher, the most accurate passer or the strongest beater, but she knows every position inside and out. Not only does this mean she's competent in any role, she's incredibly good at guessing how players on the opposing team will move or act. She is a tactician known for her daring plays and fearless flying. As a Seeker, her greatest assets are her intuition and foolhardy bravery. Other captains and seekers who've paid attention will know she's big on feinting and isn't afraid of close brushes with bludgers. That said, her incaution has put her in the infirmary more than once, and if the race for the snitch is one of speed or grace, Jupiter generally won't be the one coming out on top.

[personal profile] merlinpletcher 2019-07-08 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Merlin Pletcher

House: Mothgarden

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. Merlin is focused and aggressive during matches, so he's definitely willing to get rough with other players. He doesn't go into the game with the intention to foul but in the moment he'll usually act on impulse and do what he needs to do for his team.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope. Merlin was a reserve player as a freshman, a starting Chaser as a sophomore, and has been the primary Seeker since his junior year.

Playstyle: Merlin's an exceptionally daring, quick, maneuverable flyer; that's his primary advantage as a Seeker and as a player in general. There aren't many that will find it easy to keep up with him and he's been known to weave in and out of dangerous positions, hoping to get others into compromising situations when they try to avoid a collision or follow him. He's not much for planning unless an order comes down from on high (or from Maverick), instead relying on impulse and intuition. Because he's focused and thinks quickly under pressure, this mostly works out for him, but he's certainly been outmaneuvered by more strategic players and teams in the past. Despite his size and his position, he's known to get aggressive with other players and he's willing to take his fair share of hits. While he can move easily between being a Seeker and being a Chaser, he's not well-suited for being a Beater or a Keeper.

Name: Edgar Waxweiler

House: Thorntrail

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. While not one to intentionally seek out fouling, Eddy has no pretensions about playing an Honorable Game. His job is to keep Quaffles from getting through the hoops and he'll accomplish that by any means necessary.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nopes.

Playstyle: Daredevil human slinky. Eddy's playstyle is notable for its fearlessness and improvisation. While his flying skills largely consist of Go Fast and Go Hard, he's deeply reckless with his personal well being, all too willing to only hang onto his broom by a hand or a knee as he flings and twists his body in the way of an approaching Quaffle, using whatever part of himself is necessary to block a goal, be it hand, foot, or even head. His catching skills are certainly nothing to sniff at, but blocking is where he truly shines. Eddy struggles with communication and coordinated teamwork, so the solo nature of the Keeper position has always been a good fit for him.

House: Wuldgulch

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. He's not out to murder anyone, but he tends to forget that this is Quidditch and not Quodpot.

Preferred Position: Chaser, beater, keeper, seeker.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Y.

Playstyle: Wyatt is a natural on a broom, but sometimes this makes him too reckless. He's willing to get killed if it scores a goal. He also tends to be too rough, considering this is Quidditch and not Quodpot, but feels like people just need to toughen up! He's happy to be a team player, even if he is fond of the glory of being the one to score. He readily listens to team leadership, even if they tell him to foul or otherwise break rules.

[personal profile] wildchild 2019-07-18 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Pax Sweetapple

House: Mothgarden

Are you okay with character injuries?: Absolutely.

Will they commit a foul?: Probably not intentionally - Pax wants to win, but she doesn't want to win enough that she's essentially going to cheat, and she won't get so riled up that she'd do anything bad on purpose. She can get a little reckless sometimes though, so she could accidentally do something, maybe.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope! This is her second year on the team.

Playstyle: Pax is here to have fun, and also win, but mostly to have fun. While she's not going to be goofy and inattentive, it does mean she's a little more willing to be risky in broom maneuvers and plays if they seem interesting or fun. She's very much a team player, with a focus on making sure her team has good opportunities and is protected versus focusing on taking out the other team's players just for the sake of doing so. She generally doesn't want anyone to die, including herself. Even so, she doesn't really know when to quit. Did she just get super beaned in the arm by a Bludger? Don't worry coach! You can keep her in!

Skill-wise, Pax is good at keeping on her broom, even when hit, or even when she's half hanging off of it (strictly unnecessary for a beater, really) and she's quite comfortable up in the sky. The power behind her swing still needs a bit of work, but she's got good hand-eye coordination from playing baseball and having to pass in Quodpot, so accuracy is where she shines. She's confident in her skills and the skills of her teammates, and is relatively unshakable even when things start going poorly because, well, whatever, there's always next time.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes.
Is your character new to the team this year?: Yes. She gained an interest in joining the team partway through last year while playing in pick-up games with Joshua, and has been preparing for tryouts ever since.

Playstyle:
What Ramona lacks in talent, experience, and finesse, she makes up for in sheer enthusiasm to hit things really hard. Beater was the only position she was interested in when trying out for the team; she's played the other positions, and while her single-minded focus makes her a decent Seeker, she finds something particularly fun about lobbing projectiles at her classmates. Please don't read into it too much.

Josh taught her how to play this position, so she flies like someone with a lot more weight to throw around than she actually has. This can get her in trouble sometimes, and she's prone to collisions and scuffles on the pitch. She doesn't fully understand why it's okay to hit someone with a bludger but not elbow them.

Will they commit a foul?: Ahahaha....yes. For sure. Not cynical fouls, his are mostly fouls of getting too aggressive and/or loud about things. Which is his baseline state so it's rare there's a game he doesn't get a foul in.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope.

Playstyle: He's a small agile flier that is all about fast possession-based play. Grab the quaffle, keep it, and make something happen every time your team has it. He's best known for his trick no-look passes and goals which is sometimes less a sign of skill and more about how much practice he (sometimes pushes) to put in with his team. But his best trait is the way he always manages to fly into space and get into good positions, even if nothing comes of it he's always someone that's easy to forget about until they're exactly where you don't want them to be.

Oh and of course his 'never say die' attitude, it's not a Mothgarden match without Maverick shouting encouragement or direction at his teammates. IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER TEAM!

Name: Imogen Rainwater.

House: Deeplurk.

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. Every damn day. She especially has issues with trash-talking.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No.

Playstyle: Fast, furious, ruthless, violent. Imogen is known for playing like this must end in death (yours, hers, or a combination of the two). Rough, not mega-accurate, but extremely quick and hard-hitting. It's... kind of a nightmare. She's made screaming barrel runs at targets missed by bludgers, and loves jetting in front of people and cutting them off when they're cruising. She can take hard hits and keep coming while laughing them off.

Her general prescence is a little less of a protective figure for the team and more like a chaos agent monster that's on their side: aware of the play or whatever maneuver she's supposed to be supporting, but ultimately out for blood and thrill. That said, she gleefully avenges fallen teammates if they're hurt in play, and will occasionally bodyguard them with her own fuckin' flesh if the score is close. She also keeps an eye on Howdy and is often not far behind if you manage to evade him.

More than anything, Imogen is a talented flyer. The game itself is important -- she's Extremely concerned about winning, and constantly calibrating and recalibrating on the pitch as things progress, hyper-aware of formation, movement and play rhythm -- but just being in the air is the real shit, and what Imogen is missing re: finesse she makes up for in natural broom-handling skill and agility.

MOTHGARDEN BEATER: Anthony De Witt

[personal profile] fratsquatch 2019-08-23 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Anthony De Witt

House: Mothgarden

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: No. Well, I guess it's technically a foul to throw a punch in response to another player's foul but he is generally a very clean player until he feels like his teammates are being threatened.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No.

Playstyle: As his position dictates, Tony is a defensive player. He uses his size to his advantage and just ... gets in the way. A human bludger. He has a long reach and it's difficult to knock him off course but he can sometimes be outmaneuvered by slighter, faster Beaters. He has consistent, accurate aim and makes statistically successful calls, to the point of predictability. He's a reliable, level headed, play-following teammate with a LOT of knowledge of the game.

He is, however, known for escalating squabbles into brawls in defense of his teammates, though he has an easy time burying the hatchet once he feels like the score has been settled and a fouler has been put in their place.

THORNTRAIL BEATER: Lydia Dwyer

[personal profile] filigreed 2019-09-01 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Lydia Dwyer

House: Thorntrail

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes, but very rarely first. She won't go out of her way to pull something questionably legal unless she's calculated it as the best chance of getting something that's necessary done. Or if someone else has pulled it first. (Basically, Lydia is that one girl on my soccer team who was ready to help the opposition up off the ground and brush the grass off of them and ask if they were okay - right up until one of them fouled her. Then she was ready to murder each and every one of them. Brutally.)

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope!

Playstyle: Lydia takes her time. It isn't that she's slow to act, not by any means, it's just that she's precise and exacting and she watches everything. She's going to fuck you up and she's going to fuck you up right.

Years of playing various broomsports have made her a skilled flyer - and years of playing broomsports with people who didn't speak the same language as her have made her good at nonverbal communication. She probably knows what you're going to do. If you're on her team, she's going to make sure you get to do it. If you're not on her team, she's going to make sure that she gets in your goddamn way.

DEEPLURK SEEKER: Tybalt Zettler

[personal profile] princeofcat 2019-10-04 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Tybalt Zettler

House: Deeplurk

Are you okay with character injuries?: Oh yes make him the skid mark he is

Will they commit a foul?: Yes, but only if he's decently sure that he'll be able to get away with it. He doesn't want to be benched if he can help it.

Is your character new to the team this year?: NOPE he was on it last year too! And also a freshman reserve!

Playstyle: Tybalt's main asset is his fish-to-water flying ability. He's nigh effortless on a broom, and goes quickly in and through the air (and hopefully obstacles) with an ease and grace that is,if he's done his job right, annoying. He's more aerodynamic than acrobatic, favoring an elegant simplicity over showy tricks. Tybalt has a good eye for strategy and also one for snitches. He knows he's no great shakes against any bludger, so he tries to plan and avoid that whole mess. He stays close to the periphery, diving in only to occasionally feint if he thinks it's lucrative, or more obviously, when he sees the snitch. His speed can get to be a weakness, because with speed comes a lack of caution, and then come the bludgers, and then he's a splat.

Although his ego does struggle with not being the star of the show, he's aware he's on a team, and will use his position to help with team goals. If that means feinting and risking injury to get a quaffle back, he's here for you, coach. He's a surprisingly good winner and loser both, gracious to other teammates and opposing players. As long as he does his best, he can appreciate others' skill.

WILDGULCH CHASER: Uriah Hatfield

[personal profile] negligently 2019-10-05 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Uriah Hatfield

House: Wildgulch

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Ehhhh, maybe, but he's not looking for a reason to do it. Uriah's not an aggressive player, but if he's frustrated he can lose his temper.

Is your character new to the team this year?: N, but this is his first year as a first string player. He was a reserve last year.

Playstyle: Uriah thinks he's the weak link of the Wildgulch Chasers, which is debatable, but he's possibly physically the weakest. Uriah knows he can't shrug off a Bludger and that he doesn't have the same stamina as other players, so he focuses on being quick, light, and accurate. He's particularly good at tricky shots and getting out of peoples' way... but he shit talks the rival players. Like, a lot. The better he gets at dodging Bludgers, the more he dares the other team to turn him into a smear on the grass below.

THORNTRAIL RESERVE: Skip Rider

[personal profile] recordskip 2019-10-19 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Skip Rider

House: Thorntrail

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes.

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. If he thinks the benefits are greater than the possible penalty, and it's the best option, and it's not too dirty of a cheat (he doesn't like hurting people, for instance, but grabbing someone's broom doesn't hurt).

Preferred Position: Keeper, Seeker, Chaser Beater

Is your character new to the team this year?: Yes.

Playstyle: Skip has the speed and agility to be world-class in any broom sport. Unfortunately, he's got zero experience playing well with others in any sense, and he also never played a game of catch in his life before freshman year, so his actual sport skills are lacking, leaving him firmly on the reserves. Keeper is his favored position, being basically just a permanent interceptor - intercepting being his absolute best skill. He does tend to get bored hanging around one end of the pitch when the action is happening at the other end, though, and that can cost him. Seeker is his second-best position; once spotted, he can cut across the pitch in .003 seconds to get the snitch. Once again, though, he has issues keeping focused on searching endlessly for the snitch, finding it more fun to engage in the distraction tactics Seekers are also known for. As a Chaser, Skip is great at intercepting and at flying, but his passing needs work and his shooting is awful. And his Beating skills, well, he hits the bludger 99% of the time. His weedy arms just don't get it very far.

WILDGULCH KEEPER: Gemma Zhao (Captain)

[personal profile] sparkling_gem 2019-12-22 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Gemma Zhao

House: Wildgulch

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes

Will they commit a foul?: Yes. As a captain, she knows she's supposed to be a role model and tries to play responsibly, but sometimes she gets caught up in the moment and becomes aggressive.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No

Playstyle: Gemma is quick, nimble and agile. She is good at changing directions rapidly, and she's been known to do a flip on her broom when diving for a Quaffle. Such fancy moves do help her catch Quaffles, but she occasionally does them just to show off. An experienced player, she is very confident, sometimes overly so, allowing her opponents to feint her out. She is a skilled flyer, but she can sometimes be reckless. As a Keeper, she mostly plays alone, but sometimes shouts encouragement and/or orders to her teammates.

THORNTRAIL CHASER: Claudia

[personal profile] nublada 2020-01-03 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Claudia Vega

House: Thorntrail

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes!

Will they commit a foul?: Yes, though she's not looking to commit a foul. She just gets a little rough with her elbows sometimes.

Is your character new to the team this year?: Nope!

Playstyle:
  • She's very comfortable with flying, though not a very showy flyer.
  • While she's not necessarily afraid of being murdered by a bludger, but she's not going to go out of her way to ask for it.
  • A+ in Accuracy. She's put a lot of hours into target practice.
  • Works well in a team, not so much when she's alone. If she gets separated from her girls then she will probably do something stupid, like try to shoot from the middle of the pitch, which never really works when you're actively playing against a Keeper.

MOTHGARDEN KEEPER: Kirby Sparrowgrove

[personal profile] sparrowboy 2020-03-04 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Kirby Sparrowgrove

House: Mothgarden

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yes

Will they commit a foul?: No

Is your character new to the team this year?: No, he was a reserve last year.

Playstyle: Kirby is a skilled flyer, and he is fast and agile, allowing him to quickly dart around the goalposts and to change position to stop a quaffle. He shies away from aggression against other players, but when desperate, he can be reckless and may try dangerous moves. He sometimes lacks confidence and second-guesses himself, and he has trouble guessing when an opponent is going to feint.

MOTHGARDEN CHASER: Scarlett Hatfield

[personal profile] southernspitfire 2020-04-19 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Scarlett Hatfield

House: Mothgarden

Are you okay with character injuries?: Yep!

Will they commit a foul?: Yes, but probably more in the heat of the moment than something that's planned out.

Is your character new to the team this year?: No.

Playstyle: Scarlett's main skills are speed, agility, and accuracy. Her main weakness is physical strength - not a ton of force behind her throws and she's been known to drop the Quaffle sometimes towards the end of a long match. She is pretty skilled on a broom, with a tendency to showboat when she's doing well. She pulls off a lot of moves that have most of the spectators positive she's going to fall and/or break her neck. She's better at passing and shooting than catching. When she first started last year, she had raw talent and pulled off some lucky shots during try-outs, but she was behind the rest of her teammates in terms of flying ability and understanding the rules of the game. She's worked hard to catch up, and she's playing a lot better this year. She's definitely a team player, but if she has the shot (or thinks she has the shot,) she's gonna take it.
